3 elderly women killed as goods vehicle topples

Three women were killed on the spot after a mini goods vehicle in which they were travelling toppled near Thindlu Gate in Sarjapur on Monday evening. The dead are Yellamma, Puttamma and Radhamma, all aged around 60, and residents of Billapura in Tyavakanahalli in Anekal taluk.

The women collected coriander leaves from different fields in and around Bagalur in Tamil Nadu and were returning in the vehicle that was loaded with vegetables when the accident occurred around 6.45 pm. The driver lost control over the vehicle as he approached Thindlu gate and, it toppled.

The victims were buried under bags containing vegetables. They died on the spot due to massive injuries, said the police. The driver was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment and his identity is yet to be ascertained, the police said.
