RWAs want action on illegal commercial units

Last Updated 12 June 2017, 20:06 IST

Representatives of 17 Residents’ Welfare Associations (RWAs) on Monday met the BBMP joint commissioner Sarfaraz Khan and expressed their concern over the commercial establishments coming up in the residential areas.

The members led by Sridhar Pabbisetty of Namma Bengaluru Foundation told Khan that they had submitted a list of illegal commercial establishments to the BBMP six months ago. However, no action has been taken so far and the illegal establishments continue to be a menace in the residential area.

Khan assured the group that he would ask the BBMP’s zonal joint commissioners to inspect the trade licences of all the commercial establishments and initiate immediate action against those operating without trade licences. He said the BBMP commissioner would have a meeting with the managing director of Bescom to find a permanent solution.
