Addressing the gathering at ‘An evening with Shashi Tharoor’ here, he said his entry into politics was not planned. On his political allegiance, Tharoor said Congress was like a big tent and a point of convergence of various political ideologies.

Commenting on Indo-Pak relations, he said despite continued efforts of peace, the Embassy attack, Mumbai attack took place. Nonetheless India has shown great deal of maturity in maintaining peace. “We only asked Pakistan to bring Mumbai perpetrators to book and dismantle the infrastructure of terrorism, for which response had been minimal,” he said.
When asked about his writing flair and parliamentary works, he said: “Creativity suffers in my present profession, as paradox about parliamentary system is that everyone will have too many demands that you can hardly fulfil.”

“I come from a very demanding constituency where I am the first MP to hold ministerial post in the last 62 years. They are used to seeing their MPs attending weddings, funerals etc in the constituency and since I am not frequently seen in the constituency my people often question themselves why they have voted for me,” he said.

With a challenging ministry and hectic schedule, writing anything lengthy is difficult, he added.
