All women should support the Mahadayi agitation which is being staged by the farmers in this region, seeking solution for the problem, appealed Mahadayi Horata Samithi member Rayavva Katagi.

She was speaking at the 812th day Mahadayi dharna in Nargund in Gadag district on Wednesday.

She said, the indefinite agitation has been launched in Nargund, urging the State and the Union Governments to take steps to implement Mahadayi and Kalasa-Banduri nala projects by resolving the deadlock over sharing water. The women too should support the struggle to strengthen it, she advised.

She said, it is need of the hour to show the power of women on the land where brave women such as Rani Channamma and Onake Obavva were born. A lesson should be taught to the elected representatives who have neglected the Mahadayi struggle. Then only the elected representatives would respond to their demands, she stated.

She suggested that the Goa government should stop its adamant nature on the Mahadayi issue. Prime Minister Narendra Modi should immediately intervene in the issue to resolve it. Otherwise, they (farmers) would teach a fitting lesson to the elected representatives in the coming days, she warned.

She said, it is condemnable that the governments are not responding to their genuine demands. The Mahadayi issue has been politicised. At least now, both the governments should wake up and should take steps to resolve the crisis, she urged.

Venkappa Hujaratti, S B Jogannavar, Jayapal Muttin, Virupaksha Parannavar and others took part in the protest.
