The NMKRV college has announced the Shashwathi award for women who have excelled in writing in Indian languages and in English.
The awards are given by the NMKRV College for Women in four categories, including best woman writer, in memory of Nanjangud Tirumalamba, who was the first woman printer and publisher of Kannada.
Similarly, the Sadoditha award for women critics and scholars, the Karnataka Kalpavalli award for social work and the Gargi award for the best teacher were also announced.
According to a release issued by the college on Saturday, the awards for 2014 to 2016 will be presented on Tuesday.
