A 45-year-old man was fatally stabbed by three of his relatives in a BMTC bus even as co-passengers watched in horror on Wednesday morning. The assailants suspected him to be a police informer.
Suresh, of Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, ran into a BMTC bus in South Bengaluru's Konappana Agrahara, Hosur Road, the moment he saw his assailants around 9.20 am. The audacious gang chased him into the bus and attacked him in the full glare of people. They fled before the shocked onlookers could call the police. Suresh was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Police suspect the murder to be the fallout of a dispute between Suresh and his relatives who thought he was a police informer. Both Suresh and his assailants have a criminal record. They were arrested for pickpocketing and robbery in Kadapa. The assailants held a grudge against Suresh as they suspected he leaked their whereabouts to the police.
The assailants came to Bengaluru looking out for Suresh.
Boralingaiah, DCP (Southeast), said: "We have identified three relatives of Suresh and have launched a manhunt for them. Our preliminary probe doesn't show that any of them had committed any crime in the city."
The Electronics City police have registered a case of murder.
