<p>More than 1000 of the world’s leading nature photographers representing 50 countries are expected to participate in this world cup. <br /><br />They will be competing for individual as well as country honours including the coveted FIAP world cup. India’s performance has been extremely creditable, which has won the world cup four consecutive time.<br /><br />The guest of honour was Anil Kumble, who is also the vice chairperson for the state Wildlife Board, Karnataka. Kumble said, “I always had an inclination towards photography. My introduction to wildlife photography happened when I was shooting for the promo of Project tiger in Kabini. Wildlife photography is like playing a test match. You need patience, commitment and long hours in the field to capture the right moment. I am glad that this year Bangalore has been chosen as the venue for the world cup. This event will be an inspiration for the youth to take up photography. Only when an activity is developed into a hobby it can be built into passion.”<br /><br />Ten photographers from each country will send in their photographs to participate in the world cup. Highly acclaimed photographers from India and abroad will comprise of the jury. On the 10th and 11th of September all the entries will be judged. Gold, silver and bronze will awarded to the winners which will be announced on the 15th of september. <br /><br />The Federation Internationale de l’art photographique (FIAP) counts more than 85 national association in 5 continents. The world cup is brought to India by the Federation of Indian Photography, Youth Photographic Society along with Mercedes-Benz. A special photography competition will also be held for children and Mercedes-Benz customers.</p>
