<p>Mysuru: A pall of gloom descended over Sri Chamarajendra Zoological garden, popularly known as Mysuru Zoo, as it lost one of its members and a major attraction. Lioness Rakshitha, aged 21 years four months, passed away on Saturday around 7 am.</p><p>Zoo Executive Director D Rangaswamy informed that Rakshitha died due to age-related illness. </p><p>The lioness was under treatment for a week. </p><p>Rangaswamy said, "Rakshitha's passing away is a profound loss to Mysuru Zoo. The zoo administration, veterinary team, and animal caretakers deeply mourn her loss. We are thankful for the support from the global veterinary community and wildlife conservationists during her treatment."</p><p>Rakshitha was born to Narasimha and Manini on April 1, 2004. </p>
