The minister is still on life support at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) here as he is having severe pain in the deep wounds he suffered. As the pain could affect the functioning of vital organs, the patient (minister) has been put on life support.

According to the Institute's administrative officials, the minister may need a few further surgeries.

"The minister is fine and recovering fast. He is conscious and maintaining vital parameters," SGPGIMS Medical Superintendent A.K. Bhatt told reporters. "However, the condition of Sanjay, a police constable who also suffered serious injuries in the blast is serious. He was shifted to SGPGIMS Tuesday evening," he added.

A 45-year-old man was killed and five, including Nandi, were critically injured in the bomb blast that took place on Monday afternoon near the minister's house in Mutthiiganj locality of Allahabad, some 200 km from Lucknow.
