Techie run over by BMTC bus

The victim was heading to his office at Manyata Tech Park, Nagawara after dropping his son in Bishop Cotton School. A car driver opened the door of his vehicle unmindful of vehicles passing by.

Alwyn who was coming behind rammed into the door and was fell off his bike. The private bus, which was behind him ran him over. Mohandas was declared brought dead at St Phelomina Hospital.

Asif Khan, the bus driver and Manjunath, the driver of the car have been taken into custody.

Mohandas, of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, is survived by his wife Merlin Philips and 4-year-old son Christopher.

Fire at tech park

Even as Mohandas was dying on the road, a minor fire broke out in his IBM office at Manyata Tech Park.

The fire led to thick smoke billowing out of the building and causing panic among the office workers. According to Fire and Emergency Services, the fire broke out in the server room of the first floor due to a short circuit and nearly 30 batteries stored in the room caught fire.

By 9.55 am, three fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the flame. They had evacuated the entire 10 floors of the office building to “avoid any untoward situation.”

Three held

Three persons were arrested for selling obscene books and pictures in Majestic area.
The Upparpet police raided RK Book Stall and arrested Rafiq alias Abdul (37), Jamal (26) and Ahmed (28) while the owner of the book stall Shabbeer, a Mangalorean, is absconding.

Rs 10,000 in cash and heaps of books and pictures were seized.

Youth killed in accident

Deepak Kumar, a native of Delhi and a resident of Mahadevapura, was killed in a road accident on Tuesday night near Hoodi junction. He was into catering business.

Deepak was on his way from KR Puram to Vasavapuram on his two-wheeler when the mishap occurred.  He rammed his bike into a lorry which was parked in no parking zone.
Though Deepak was taken to a hospital he was declared brought dead.

He was not wearing a helmet, while riding the bike, the police said.
