<p>Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate the newly constructed cable-stayed bridge between Ambargodlu-Kalasavalli in Sagar taluk on July 14.</p><p>Addressing media persons, here on Saturday, Shivamogga MP B Y Raghavendra said it is the second largest cable-stayed bridge in the country after a similar one built in Okha in Gujarat.</p><p>It is built at a cost of Rs 473 crore and is 2.44 km long.</p><p>Since the bridge connects Sigandur, a major pilgrimage centre in Karnataka, the BJP leaders from Malnad want it to be named as ‘Sigandur Sri Chowdeshwari Bridge’.</p><p>He demanded the state government to submit a proposal in this regard to the Centre after giving an no objective certificate.</p><p><strong>‘BSY’s role immense’</strong></p><p>He said leaders of all political parties have fought for the construction of the bridge.</p><p>But the contribution of former chief minister B S Yediyurappa towards its construction is significant. Yediyurappa had given Rs 100 for the construction, he recalled.</p><p>Union Minister Pralhad Joshi will participate in the inaugural ceremony. However, the venue and time of the programme are yet to be decided.</p><p><strong>Load test</strong></p><p>The second phase of the load test of the bridge began on July 5.
