Naxals call 2-day bundh in Bengal

The call comes even when the Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee government is in the process of giving finishing touches to a package to facilitate the surrender of the Left-wing rebels in the troubled districts of Midnapore, Bankura and Purulia.

Father of Sidhu Soren, the supreme commander of Sidhu Kanu Gana Militia who was gunned down by the security forces along with five of his key aides on Monday, declared that he would not accept the body of his slain son as “he was fighting for the poor tribals.”

While vowing to avenge the killing, PCAPA spokesperson Manoj Mahato said: “A martyrs week will be observed in Lalgarh district and adjacent areas between July 29 and August 4 in the memory of Soren.”
