Administrative approval has been received for Chennai and Bangalore while for Vellore it was expected soon. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has instructed the Commissioner and Special Secretary, Buildings and National Highways to start construction from November this year.
Assam House at Chennai and Vellore will have capacity of 35 double rooms each while Bangalore will have a strength of 70 rooms. The state government has also acquired land for setting up a Assam House at Salt Lake in Kolkata. There is an Assam House at Russell Street area in the metropolis already.
The state government has decided to construct three more floors in the existing Assam House at Navi Mumbai with an additional 35 double bedrooms in view of rush of patients to Mumbai for medical treatment, they added.
