'Roohi' 4 days box office collection report: Rajkummar Rao-starrer has a good first weekend

Roohi has crossed the lifetime collection of Rajkummar's last major release 'Made in China'

Actor Rajkummar Rao's latest movie Roohi, which hit the screens on March 11, has made a decent impact at the box office despite receiving negative reviews. The film has collected Rs 12.58 crore (net) over its four-day extended weekend. The movie collected Rs 3.06 crore on the opening day, exceeding expectations. It witnessed a drop in collection on the second day but picked up on Saturday and Sunday.

The general feeling is that the horror-comedy has made an impact at the box office as it is perceived to be the 'crazier sister' of the 2018 hit Stree. The bromance between Rajkummar and Varun Sharma also has hit the right notes. The film faced no competition in the Hindi belt as the week's other major releases Time to Dance and the Sharman Joshi-starrer Mera Fauji Calling were not promoted too well. Its performance was, however, affected by the Sandalwood biggie Roberrt in Karnataka.

Roohi has failed to impress critics as the screenplay is not as good as expected. Some moviegoers are of the opinion that Janhvi Kapoor. the proverbial 'surprise package' of the movie, did not get enough scope to showcase her abilities. The word of mouth is not positive, which is likely to affect Roohi in the coming days.

The film's performance may be affected by the Sanjay Gupta-directed Mumbai Saga, slated to hit the screens on March 19. The John Abraham-starrer is expected to do pretty well in the mass centres as it is a 'desi' action drama. Roohi's fate may ultimately depend on the Shahid hero's popularity/star power.

Rajkummar, meanwhile, is gearing up to turn his attention to his upcoming movie Badhaai Do. It is touted to be a family drama and stars Bhumi Pednekar as the leading lady. He also has the comedy-drama Hum Do Hamare Do, co-starring Kriti Sanon, in his kitty.
