International Dance Day: Sandalwood's talents in motion

On the occasion of ‘International Dance Day’, Deccan Herald brings to you the best of actors and actresses from ‘Namma Sandalwood’ who entertain moviegoers not only with their acting skills but also their dance moves.

PUNEETH RAJKUMAR - Puneeth Rajkumar started dancing at a very young age. He is one of those top actors who is known for his extraordinary dancing skills. His distinctive moves in the song ‘Appu Dance’ from ‘Raajakumara’ has been greatly admired by many.
 

YASH - Yash is yet another actor who has proved his mettle with his dynamic dance moves. His dancing skills in ‘Googly’ and ‘Mr and Mrs Ramachari’ have been his best performances till date.

VINOD RAJ - Actor Vinod Rajannada’s dancing have won him many admirers. His performance in the movie ‘Dance Raja Dance’ is truly a scene-stealer.

SRIDHAR - Trained in Bharatanatyam, actor Sridhar is a dance scholar, performer and choreographer. He is one of those rare dancers in the industry who has enriched the silver screen with his classical dance performances.

SRUTHI HARIHARAN - The ‘Lucia’ and ‘Savaari 2’ actress Sruthi Hariharan always wanted to take up dance as a profession. She has an emotional connect with dance. The actress has performed as a background dancer before doing short films. Her dancing skills in the song ‘Sunday Bantu’ from the movie ‘Plus’ and ‘Nachle’ from ‘Madha Matthu Manasi’ are noteworthy.
 

LAKSHMI GOPALASWAMY - Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, who has acted n several Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films, is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer. An exemplary dancer, she received much appreciation for her performance in the song ‘Omkara’ from ‘Aaptharakshaka’.
 

BHAVANA RAO- Bhavana Rao is also an accomplished Bharatnatyam dancer who won many hearts dancing to the song ‘Nadhimdhim Thana’ from ‘Gaalipata’.
 

SAMYUKTHA HEGDE - Samyuktha Hegde is an actress and a professional dancer who made her debut in the Sandalwood movie ‘Kirik Party’. She is well-versed in belly dancing, contemporary and street styles.
