There are no frills to her look - it's simple, understated and suits her role to a T.<br /><br />In "Mardaani", she plays Shivani Shivaji Roy, an officer of the Mumbai Crime Branch unit. Her character seems to be no-nonsense.<br /><br />Earlier when the film's poster was launched, YRF had said that Rani's character Shivani is "deft at picking up hidden clues and fearless in confronting hardened criminals".<br /><br />"The film's story takes an interesting curve when a teenage girl is kidnapped by the child trafficking mafia and smuggled outside the city. Shivani then embarks on a relentless hunt for the girl and what follows is a cat and mouse game between the fearless cop and a ruthless mafia kingpin," the statement had said.<br /><br />The trailer proves that there is a serious social issue that the film tackles in a smart and gripping way.
