FB post on woman farmer condemned

Following Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy’s reported remark on a woman farmer, a post uploaded on the Facebook page JD(S) district unit, spoke ill about the same farmer woman. There was an outrage by farmers on the post.

Along with derogatory remarks, the post also contains the photograph of the identity card of Jayashree, the woman farmer, issued by the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha, along with the photograph of BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa.

The woman has been termed ‘Deal Rani’ in the post and it is mentioned that she secured the Raitha Sangha membership on October 31, 2018. There is also a comment in Kannada saying ‘How much money this woman might have taken from BJP, to fight in just 20 days?’

There is also a remark on Yeddyurappa as if he was asking the chief minister how did he like his plot? The remark also contains an objectionable word. The post has been shared by more than 400 people, liked by 318 and commented by 75 persons. However, it was deleted following condemnation.

The JD(S) district leaders have clarified that some miscreants have uploaded the post on the JD(S) Facebook page to tarnish the image of the party.

Kumaraswamy had clarified about his statement stating that he meant to ask the farmer woman whether she was in deep slumber. When he asked the woman whether she was sleeping for four years, it was taken in a wrong spirit, the chief minister had said.

Kumaraswamy’s remarks about the woman farmer had led to statewide protests.
