At least 10 people, including four women and two children, died in a road accident near Pragnapur of Siddipet district in Telangana on Saturday evening when a TSRTC bus from Secunderabad to Mancherial hit a truck and turned turtle.
The truck then jumped the median and hit a jeep and another truck coming from the opposite direction crushed the jeep between the two trucks.
"The bus which tried to overtake the truck hit it from behind before skidding off. The truck like a bullet then hit a van with pilgrims, crushing it between another truck. All these things happened within seconds," B Mallesham an eyewitness said.
As a result of the accident, traffic on the busy Rajiv Rahadari that links Hyderabad with Siddipet, Karimnagar and Ramagundam came to a halt for hours.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has expressed his grief over the incident.
