<p>Underworld don Abu Salem will not be deported back to Portugal even after Lisbon apex court turned down India’s plea challenging order of a lower court there canceling his extradition.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Explaining the order of Portugal’s top court the Constitutional Court, official sources said that judges in the verdict observed that India was not obliged to send back Salem even after it was held by a lower court there was violation of deportation rules by Indian authorities.<br /><br />Sources here explained the position on the extradition status of Salem in the backdrop of Portugal top court rejecting India's plea challenging order of Supreme Court of the country, which upheld a lower court order cancelling his extradition over violation of deportation rules by India. <br /><br />Salem, who is accused in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts case which left 250 dead, was extradited on November 11, 2005 from Portugal where he was arrested in 2002, along with his girl friend Monica Bedi, after a long legal process in Portugal that lasted three years.</p>
