<p>BJP prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday slammed the UPA government for allegedly ignoring the development of the country and accused the Congress of indulging in “vote bank politics”.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Addressing a mammoth rally at the Taj city of Agra, Modi said the Centre was “paralysed” and emphasised on the “Gujarat model” to seek support of the people for his party, “which believed in the politics of development”.<br /><br />Modi also took on the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and launched a veiled attack on the Union foreign minister and senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid for alleged misuse of funds meant for the handicapped by the latter’s NGO.<br /><br />Terming the Congress a “divisive party”, Modi said the party was solely responsible for the division of the country. “The Congress divided the nation. Formulated two sets of laws in the country. (Made) a separate law for Jammu and Kashmir. Created rifts between the states on the question of water sharing and created states on the basis of language,” Modi alleged. “Congress has neglected 75 per cent population and catered to the needs of only 25 per cent,” he alleged, adding that the SP and the BSP had also emulated the Congress in following vote bank politics.</p>
