Last Updated 11 June 2013, 09:39 IST

Hundreds of Metro commuters in the national capital had a difficult time reaching their destination today as trains on the overcrowded HUDA city centre line were delayed during the morning rush hour due to breakdown of one of the trains.

Trains on the busy Yellow Line that connects Jahangirpuri to HUDA city centre were delayed since 9:45 AM after they were bunching up due to breakdown of one of the trains between Central secretariat and Udyog Bhawan stations.

The problem, which was spotted at around 9:45 am, was rectified only after nearly two hours, at about 11:35 AM causing severe inconvenience to office-goers and others who had to search for other modes of transport to reach their destinations.

"A train broke down between Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan station.Work is on to remove the train from the track so that other trains can function normally. Passengers have been de boarded from the faulty train," a DMRC official spokesperson said.

Trains were run at a restricted speed at various stations which led to bunching of trains on the corridor during the morning hours.

During the peak hours, trains are run at a frequency of three minutes on this corridor.
