The militants were apprehended on the basis of information provided by a person arrested in connection with the recent assassination of provincial lawmaker Alamzeb Khan, officials said.
Police arrested them from the refugee camp in Nowshera district of North West Frontier Province (NWFP).
The arrested Taliban commander, identified as Talib Khan, is an expert in making bombs while the seven other militants are believed to be Afghan nationals, officials said.
