<p>Hyderabad: A day after the Telangana cabinet ratified the Justice PC Ghose commission report on the Kaleshwaram project which held former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao responsible for alleged irregularities in the project's construction, the then irrigation minister T Harish Rao on Tuesday launched a strong defense of the project as a historic achievement.</p><p>Speaking at a presentation titled "Congress conspiracies on Kaleshwaram project: Commission distortions, facts" at the BRS headquarters Telangana Bhavan, Harish Rao on Tuesday emphasised that the project was backed by expert advice, cabinet resolutions, and statutory approvals from no fewer than 11 central agencies.</p>.PC Ghose Commission holds KCR responsible for 'irregularities' in Kaleshwaram project.<p>He dismissed the commission report as part of what he termed Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's political serial, accusing him of fabricating reports without factual basis in an attempt to tarnish KCR's legacy ahead of the local body polls.</p><p>Harish Rao accused the current government of engaging in systematic political vendetta. "Revanth's governance has gone haywire and he is now engaging in political revenge tactics,” he said.</p><p>Drawing comparisons with other major projects, the former minister questioned the selective application of scrutiny. "The Polavaram project on the Godavari river in Andhra Pradesh collapsed three times. Why didn't the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) investigate Polavaram? Yet NDSA came immediately when a small incident occurred at Medigadda," he pointed out.</p><p>Harish Rao alleged that the commission inquiry was conducted with conspiratorial intent. "They are leaking information to the media even before notices reach us. In the 665-page report, they only highlighted selective aspects. This is a one-sided report. Many commissions have been set up in the country, and they don't stand before courts. In the past too, commissions were set up against many political leaders," he said.</p><p>The former minister defended the decision not to build the project at Tammidihatti as recommended by an expert committee, explaining that there was no water availability at that location, along with biodiversity concerns and objections from Maharashtra actors.</p><p>Harish Rao highlighted the achievements of the previous BRS government, claiming it provided 24-hour electricity within just one year and restored water tanks through Mission Kakatiya.</p><p>"Since you formed the government, have you dug even a single canal or provided water to a single acre? In two years, you have only taken bundles of commissions to Delhi. In the next two years too, Revanth Reddy won't achieve anything. Except taking commission gangs to Delhi, nothing has been accomplished," the former minister added.</p>
