Following the Sarv Jatiya Hindu Mahapanchayat’s decision to stage a ‘shobha yatra’, outsiders will be denied entry into Haryana’s Nuh district on Monday. Officials said police and paramilitary have been deployed to maintain a close vigil in the region.

Inter-state and inter-district border security has also been tightened, the officials added.

The administration also announced the suspension of internet and mobile services in the region to avoid any untoward incident.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, while interacting with reporters in Panchkula said, “Instead of (participating in) the yatra, the people can visit temples in their respective areas for ‘jalabhishek’.”

“Section 144 has been imposed. Anyone who is seen to be participating or attempting to mobilise people for the yatra will be deemed to have violated the section,” Nuh sub-divisional magistrate Ashwini Kumar said.

The state administration has deployed 24 companies of paramilitary forces to maintain law and order and all entry points to the district have been sealed.

Despite the denial of permission, the VHP on Saturday announced that it would go ahead with its scheduled program being organised under the banner of Sarv Jatiya Hindu Mahapanchayat.

“Sarva Hindu Samaj has decided to take out and complete the yatra. We are ready to discuss with the administration about the size and the form of the yatra,” VHP joint general secretary Surinder Jain said.

As a precautionary measure, the administration has also ordered the closure of schools and banks on Monday.
