The Income Tax Department's latest update on its e-filing portal offers visibility to exact date and time when the Assessing Officer (AO) or Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals) [CIT(A)] has viewed the taxpayer's notice submission, prompting authority to adhere to statutory timelines.

Gaurav Jain, partner, direct tax, Forvis Mazars India, told Business Standard, “Taxpayers can now track the exact date and time when their submissions are accessed by the officer concerned. This brings clarity and assurance that their responses are under consideration, eliminating earlier uncertainty.”
