<p>Kudatini (Ballari district): The third unit of Bellary Thermal Power Station (BTPS), with an installed capacity of 750 MW, has been stalled for the last three days due to boiler tube leakage and other technical issues.</p>.<p>The BTPS has two 500 MW units and one 750 MW unit.</p>.<p>With the third unit having been shut due to technical glitches, the thermal <br>plant is only generating 1,000 MWs for the past three days. The power generation in the BTPS is hit due to technical snags when the state is grappling with a surge in demand.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Also, the hydroelectricity generation has come down drastically owing to significant drop in water level in rivers and reservoirs.</p>.Karnataka eyes 19k MW from solar, wind power plants.<p class="bodytext">BTPS in-charge managing director Jyothilakshmi refused to speak to <span class="italic">DH</span> when asked about shutting down the third unit saying, “Who are you? Why should we provide information?”</p>.<p class="bodytext">However, Krishnamurthy, the technical director at BTPS told <span class="italic">DH</span>, “The power generation in the third unit of the BTPS has been stalled due to boiler tube leakage and other technical glitches for the last three days. Efforts are on to repair the unit. It will soon resume power generation.”</p>
