Stern action should be initiated against violators, CMC members urged during the general meeting on Monday. <br /><br />CMC member P D Ponappa and Muda president Chummi Devaiah said, during the meeting chaired by CMC president Kaveramma Somanna on Monday, that there are reports on a hotel on Mangaluru Road being issued trade licence, violating the rules. Also, several fish stalls in town are operating without licence. Inquiry should be conducted on the same, they demanded.<br /><br />The CMC president and commissioner assured of looking into the issue.<br /><br />“After rains, the condition of the Mahadevpet road has turned pathetic. The work on the underground drains and interlocks has not been carried out,” stated member Uday Kumar, while members Peter and Yatish warned of staging dharna in front of the CMC office if the works are not completed within 10 days. <br /><br />Member Amin Mohisin said that even though cases of jaundice are spreading in the city, the Health Department officials are not taking any action. Water tests have not been conducted in the wards. The officials have not visited some wards at all. <br /><br />He further alleged that the progress of works is hit due to the differences of opinion between the CMC president and the commissioner. They should sort out the matter to ease development works, he demanded.<br /><br />Members Veenakshi and Srimati Bangera, who were suspended for two months, said that the CMC president has ignored the development works in their wards, owing to personal differences. Some grants, which have been provided to other wards, has not been given to their wards, they complained.<br /><br />Standing committee president M B Ganesh said that the Health Department officials were directed to visit all wards and submit reports. Only some jaundice cases have been reported. <br /><br />Clearing of files<br />Around 50% of the files on housing schemes, drinking water schemes and electrification have been pending. The officials should take care to clear the files at the earliest. A one-month campaign should be conducted to dispose of the pending files, the members urged.
