9-year-old girl dies after father’s tractor flips and falls into lake; sister injured in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: A nine-year-old girl died and her younger sister suffered injuries after their father's tractor flipped and fell into a lake in Whitefield, East Bengaluru, according to the police. 

The father was injured, too. 

The police said that the deceased, Isinaka Bhat, and her six-year-old sister were travelling by their father's tractor on their way home. 

The tractor was apparently driven negligently. As the vehicle reached the upward slope of the Pattanadur Agrahara lakebed, the father lost control, causing it to overturn and fall into the lake.

The nine-year-old came under the tractor and died on the spot, while her father and younger sister escaped with minor injuries, the police said. 

Officials from the Whitefield traffic police station visited the spot and conducted investigations. 

Preliminary investigations show that speeding and reckless driving had caused the incident. The police have seized the tractor and booked the father for causing death by negligence.
