<p>Bengaluru: Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML) collected 15 metric tonnes of waste from the Central Business District (CBD) on Wednesday, following the New Year's Eve celebrations.</p>.<p>The cleaning drive took place between 3 am and 7 am, under the supervision of Snehal, East Zone Commissioner, and Basavaraj Kabade, BBMP Chief Engineer, after revellers had left the area.</p>.<p>The operation focused on high-traffic streets such as Church Street, MG Road, Brigade Road, Richmond Road, St Mark’s Road, and Kasturba Road. Three tonnes of recyclable waste were sent for processing, according to a statement released by the BBMP.</p>.<p><strong>A walk on clean streets</strong></p>.<p>On the morning of January 1, 25 citizens kicked off their New Year with a 7-km walk through the CBD. These walkers, led by Arun Pai, founder of BangaloreWALKS, expected to encounter heaps of trash left by the previous night’s festivities.</p>.<p>To their surprise, the streets and footpaths were clean and walkable, offering a refreshing start to the New Year.</p>.<p>The walk, part of the Treasure Hunt event, is a long-standing tradition where the BBMP invites citizens to inspect the cleanliness of the ‘party zone’ on New Year’s morning.</p>.<p>The walk began at Trinity Circle on MG Road and covered areas including Richmond Road, Residency Road, St Mark’s Road, Church Street, Brigade Road, Museum Road, and neighbouring streets.</p>
