Brain-dead people's organs donated

The family of a brain-dead man who had met with an accident has donated his organs.

Rohith Kumar (24) was hit by a car on MG Road in Hassan and sustained severe head injuries as he was not wearing the helmet.

He was rushed to the nearest hospital and was later referred to the MS Ramaiah Memorial Hospital in Bengaluru.

After necessary tests, doctors declared him brain-dead. The family was counselled for organ donation and subsequently, his organs were donated.

Rohith's heart, kidneys, liver and cornea were donated to recipients.

In another case, heart, kidneys and liver of a 30-year-old woman, who had fallen from an under construction building in Kolar and was declared brain-dead, were transplanted to the recipients.
