<p>Clarence High School, Richards Town, recently celebrated its 110th anniversary with the release of four commemorative picture postcards.</p>.<p>These philatelic cards honour key personalities in the school’s history. These include founder-brothers Alfred and Walter McDonald Redwood, school reformer Wilfred Wilcox under whom it transitioned from a primary to a high school, longest-serving principal Arthur C A Flack, and its much-loved kindergarten (KG) headmistress Emma Horton.</p>.<p>A set of these postcards is available for Rs 500. One can also pay more as a donation since the proceeds will help provide fee discounts to deserving students.</p>.<p>Founded in 1914 as the Fraser Town European Day School with just 17 students, it was established to serve the local European and Anglo-Indian community. The school moved to its current campus in the 1920s, and by 1923, enrolment had grown to 100. Today, the institution has a little more than 2,200 students.</p>.<p>Its notable alumni include air commodore (retd) James Benjamin and V D Eshwaran, lieutenant general (retd) Mathew Thomas, civil engineer-civic evangelist Vivek Menon, and businessman Zaffar Sait.</p>.<p>In its 111th year, the school plans to release commemorative stamps and a coffee table book chronicling its legacy.</p>
