Karnataka govt engages legal experts on NICE projects

Bengaluru: The state government has engaged a Bengaluru-based law firm to undertake legal assessment of the Bengaluru-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor Project (BMICP), which includes NICE Road.

The Finance Department has allowed the Public Works Department (PWD) to use up to Rs 50 lakh for the work.

The law firm, Lexplexus Consulting, will study the original framework agreement, land acquisition status and pending works before suggesting a way forward, as both the concessionaire and the state government have had differences on several fronts.

In mid-2025, the state cabinet formed a committee headed by Home Minister G Parameshwara to offer solutions, but the committee decided to engage a third party for advice.

Meanwhile, Ashok Kheny, managing director of NICE Ltd, said the alternate road connecting Mysuru Road (near BHEL Junction) and NICE Road at Hosakerehalli will be ready in two weeks. It is learnt that the government plans to provide 20 guntas of land for the link road.
