<p>Asra Mavad,Bengaluru: Travellers to the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) have fallen victim to a string of scams while commuting to and from the airport.</p>.<p>On May 31, Viveka Shenoy took to X to post: "Bengaluru Airport Taxi scam! They charged Rs 2,308 for a 41 km ride and gave a fake receipt! Couldn’t notice at night!" </p>.<p>It was his wife, Rajashree, who had taken an airport taxi from KIA to their home in JP Nagar the previous night. “These are metered taxis; they provide a printed receipt at the end of the trip,” Shenoy said. A ride from the airport to JP Nagar typically costs around Rs 1,000 on cab aggregator apps and about Rs 1,400 in an airport taxi.</p>.<p>However, after reaching home, the driver demanded Rs 2,308. “He had no printed receipt. He called the call centre for help in front of us and later showed a receipt on his phone. I took a photo of the bill and paid the amount,” Shenoy added. It was only the next morning that he realised the date and address on the receipt were incorrect.</p>.<p>When Shenoy approached the airport support staff, they advised him to file a complaint at the airport police station. “After an internal enquiry, they found this was the work of a taxi gang operating on the premises,” he said.</p>.<p>Janani Kumar from Electronics City faced a similar experience two weeks ago. “The driver claimed a late-night travel fee and showed a receipt on his phone. Later, I realised it was an Uber invoice, but I had taken a private airport taxi,” she told <em>DH</em>.</p>.Use cold mix & eco-fix material to fill potholes: Administrator Tushar Girinath to BBMP .<p><strong>Toll hack</strong></p>.<p>Samarth T was forced to pay Rs 200 extra for a cab ride from Kalyan Nagar to the airport last week. “The Ola ride was supposed to cost Rs 800, but the driver insisted on Rs 200 extra for toll charges, claiming it was not included. When I refused, he threatened to leave me stranded. I would have missed my flight,” he said.</p>.<p>Since last week, two others have posted similar complaints on social media about Ola and Rapido — both platforms include a Rs 120 toll fee in their fare.</p>.<p>Ola and Rapido did not respond to <em>DH’s</em> queries.</p>.<p>Opt for authorised transport partners: BIAL, top cop </p>.<p>The Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) has advised passengers to use only authorised transport services from the airport. They have put up notices on the premises and on official social media handles.</p>.<p>Pronab Mohanty, Additional Director General of Police, Cyber Crime and Narcotics, offered similar advice.</p>
