Over the years, there has been a trend of entertaining films which make you leave your brains behind. However, ‘Don 2’ is entertaining and sensible at the same time.” Kunal plays the role of Sameer Ali, a hacker, in the film. “It’s a whole new plot and Sameer finds himself in a strange place in life where he has to choose between right and wrong. And bad things are always more exciting,” he explains.

Kunal, who shot for the film in Berlin and Kuala Lumpur, says he had a wonderful time working in it. “Right from Farhan to Shah Rukh (Khan) to Priyanka (Chopra), everyone was
so much fun. There was a great energy on the sets,” he reveals.

First Rang De Basanti with Aamir and now ‘Don 2’ with Shah Rukh, how has the experience with the ‘Khans’ been? “When you work with people like Shah Rukh and Aamir, you realise that success doesn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of an incredible amount of dedication.
They have been around for over 20 years. Yet when you see their energy on the sets, you would think it’s their first day of shoot.”

Is doing less films a conscious decision? “I look for different things in different films. I did Rang De Basanti and Aaja Nachle because I loved the scripts. In Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, I liked the light-hearted character I played while Lamhaa dealt with something important. And in ‘Don 2’, I was getting a chance to be part of something iconic,” he answers.

He is currently working on Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana. “The film revolves around a joint Punjabi family and a magical recipe that binds them. In India, we are obsessed with food and always talk about it. But there has never really been a film about families bonding over food.

So this is one such film and I am happy I got a chance to work with Anurag Kashyap, who has produced the film.” He is also co-developing a few projects. “I don’t want to crib that good scripts are not coming my way. So I take the ideas that I find exciting and sit with the directors and writers who I find exciting to develop them,” he informs. Kunal recently took flying lessons as well. “For a long time, I have been wanting to learn flying.
.
I have taken a couple of lessons but haven’t got my pilot licence yet,” he notes. Speaking of his long association with Bangalore, the young actor says, “My maasi and cousin stay there. So I have been visiting the City for the past 20-25 years and have seen its growth from a small town to a big City.” Ask him why should the audiences watch ‘Don 2’ and pat comes the reply, “Don is one step ahead of not only his enemies but even the audience! So come for the film and keep guessing what happens next!”
