<p>Bengaluru: An evening walk near home turned fatal for two women in their 30s after an electricity pole crashed on them near <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/baiyappanahalli">Baiyappanahalli</a> in eastern Bengaluru on Monday, the police said.</p><p>The pole was dislodged by the bucket of an earthmover being used for a roadwork project.</p><p>The police have arrested the earthmover operator, Rajkumar, 33, who was hired by a BBMP contractor, on charges of causing death by negligence.</p><p>Soni Kumari and Sumathi, both in their mid-30s, were taking an evening walk on 5th Cross, Suddaguntepalya, when the incident occurred around 6.30 pm.</p>.Three members of family from Telangana die in road accident in US.<p>The police said Rajkumar was excavating the road surface as part of civic work when the earthmover's bucket arm brushed against the pole, causing it to collapse on the women. Rajkumar was reversing the earthmover at the time.</p><p>"It all happened in a matter of seconds, and the women couldn’t escape. They suffered multiple fractures and head injuries. Extreme blood loss proved fatal for them," said a police officer investigating the case.</p><p>The officer dismissed reports that Rajkumar was using earphones while operating the earthmover, stating that no such evidence was found during the preliminary investigation.</p><p>The officer said Rajkumar was arrested based on multiple eyewitness testimonies.
