<p>Bengaluru: The Bengaluru police are searching for a woman who allegedly stole a car from an independent driver after befriending him under the pretense of being a passenger.</p>.<p>The incident occurred on May 7 in Bagalagunte, north Bengaluru.</p>.<p>The 39-year-old driver, identified as Anantha Kumar, has filed a complaint with the Bagalagunte police.</p>.<p>Kumar stated that he met the suspect last month while on duty in Karwar. She befriended him and expressed interest in touring Bengaluru and Mysuru, saying she would contact him for travel assistance. However, Kumar was in Hubballi at the time and asked her to meet him the following day.</p>.<p>On May 7, around 11 am, the suspect met Kumar near Bagalagunte and told him she wanted to freshen up, requesting that he book a lodge for her. Kumar arranged a room at a lodge in Sidehalli and waited for her, according to the FIR.</p>.<p>Kumar reported that the suspect later called him near the room and said she needed to visit a parlour. She suggested that he freshen up as well. When Kumar went into the bathroom, she locked the door from the outside and fled with his phone and car keys.</p>.<p>“I screamed for help from the bathroom window and managed to get out of the room. The suspect got help from an unknown man to drive away in my car,” Kumar told the police.</p>.<p>Based on his statement, the Bagalagunte police have registered an FIR under BNS sections 318(4) (cheating), 303(2) (theft), and 305 (theft in a dwelling house, means of transportation, place of worship, etc).</p>
