<p>Bengaluru: Karnataka’s Food Safety and Drug Administration Department has continued its crackdown on drug dealers violating the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, and food vendors violating the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. </p>.<p>In a special drive, enforcement officers inspected 122 blood centres across the state and issued show-cause notices to 44 of them. </p>.<p>In June, enforcement officers from the drug administration wing conducted 2,544 inspections. As a result, 133 drug licences were suspended and 20 drug licences were cancelled over violations of the the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940. The department also recalled from the market and seized ‘Not of Standard Quality Drugs’ worth Rs 40,48,436. </p>.Karnataka: Udupi call centre organised bulk shipment orders on behalf of a global drug cartel.<p>Between April and June 2025, enforcement officers also filed 81 cases in various courts against firms that violated provisions of the act. </p>.<p>To ensure food safety, quality and hygiene, officials from the food safety department inspected 720 hotels and restaurants across the state in June. Of these, 183 establishments were found violating the rules and fined Rs 21,500. The department also collected 234 drinking water samples and sent them for laboratory analysis. </p>.<p>Food vendors at bus stations also came under the radar with inspectors checking the food standards at 871 food stalls across 184 bus stations. Notices were issued to 216 establishments with identified violations and fines amounting to Rs 55,000 were imposed.</p>.<p>Nearly 600 anganwadi centres were also inspected and about 500 samples from these centres were sent to be analysed, the department said. </p>
