MP calls I-T raids on Cong leaders politically motivated

Chamarajanagar MP R Dhruvanarayan, on Saturday, condemned BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa for his allegations against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, saying that accusations against CM are baseless and concocted.

Addressing the reporters here Dhruvanarayan said, “Yeddyurappa’s allegations against the CM are baseless and are ‘hit-and-run’ statements. Yeddyurappa had accused Siddaramaiah of giving Rs 1,000 crore money to the Congress high command. BJP leaders should remember the allegations they are facing. During the BJP’s rule in the state, many ministers in Yeddyurappa’s Cabinet faced corruption charges and a few of them were jailed for irregularities.”

‘Centre targeting K’taka’

“Though the state is reeling under severe drought, no BJP leader from the state is bothered to approach the Union government. The Centre is targeting Karnataka,” he alleged.

Dhruvanarayan said, though the state government had appealed for Rs 4,702 crore to manage the drought situation under Natural Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF), the Union government has sanctioned Rs 1,782 crore,  and only Rs 450 crore has been released a couple of days back. With meagre fund, how is it possible for
the state government to take up measures to mitigate drought,” he questioned.

The MP said, “Though the state has good forest resources with the highest tiger population, the Union has effected cut in the grants for conservation activities. The man-animal conflict is on the rise and the state needs funds to tackl the menace.”

When asked about the Income Tax raids against Congress leaders and ministers, the MP said, the BJP is targeting Congress leaders and the raids are politically motivated. “Why have the IT authorities not taken action against the BJP leaders,” he questioned.

Nanjangud bypoll

Replying to a query, Dhruvanarayan said, he and PWD Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa have no difference of opinion. “Mahadevappa has stated that neither him nor his son Sunil Bose are the aspirants of the ticket from the party to contest from Nanjangud Assembly constituency in the upcoming bypolls. The party will be strengthened with the inclusion of Kalale Keshavamurthy, who quit JD(S). However, the candidature will be finalised by the CM and other party leaders. The upcoming election is a prestige issue for the party and we will win the election,” he said. The MP said, M H Ambareesh, who was dropped from the ministry, will never quit the Congress party.
