<p>Hubballi: With the support of property records, Congress party leaders, on Saturday, took possession of the land near KCCI Circle on Lamington Road in Hubballi hitherto being used as JD(U) office. ‘Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee’ board was installed, and an earthmover was used to level the ground, but the old building was retained.</p><p>This is likely to result in a litigation, as JD(U) leaders said they would file a police complaint and would approach the High Court also.</p><p>When Congress leaders are saying that 11 gunta land was purchased for KPCC and they have legal documents. However JD(U) leaders are claiming it as their party’s land.</p><p>Congress leader performed puja on Saturday morning, and ‘KPCC’ board was installed. They also garlanded the portraits of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr B R Ambedkar, Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi.</p><p>“This land was purchased for the KPCC after paying Rs 11,700 in 1956, and was registered. Others were unauthorisedly using it. We have legal documents. As per the KPCC’s direction, we will construct a high-tech party office here,” said MLA Prasad Abbayya.</p><p>Condemning the Congress leaders’ move, JD(U) leader Shrishailgouda Kamatar said the party had paid Rs 23 lakh tax for the land and had put up the board also.</p><p>“Congress leaders appealed to the deputy director of land records to change the ownership, and that was done. We are filing a police complaint. We will move the High Court on February 10 (Monday), and if needed, we will approach Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also,” Kamatar said.</p><p>Meanwhile, JD(S) leaders have also approached the police claiming that the land is of the Janata Dal office, and the issue is before the court after the division of the party into JD(U) and JD(S). However, now the Congress leaders have trespassed to occupy the land, the JD(S) alleged. </p>
