<p>The election authorities have involved themselves in campaigning of a different kind in the city. They have launched a novel initiative to create awareness among people about the importance of voting, ahead of Thursday’s polls to the City Corporation.<br /><br /></p>.<p>As per the instructions of the deputy commissioner (who is also the district electoral officer), six publicity vehicles are doing the rounds between 7 am and 10 pm, reminding the people of their duty to vote. The residents were also warned on the public address system against proxy voting and other malpractices. <br /><br />They were also called upon not to be influenced by inducements offered by the candidates or the parties. <br /><br />The vehicles, which were mounted with the public address system, travelled the junctions, roads, lanes and bylanes of the city. <br /><br />The voters have been asked to call (08392) 272356, if they come across instances of money, liquor, clothes, household articles or electronic goods being distributed to influence voters. <br /><br />Vehicles purchased for collecting garbage are being utilised for the voter awareness campaign, Deputy Commissioner A A Biswas told Deccan Herald. <br /></p>
