<p>Demanding cancellation of the new Land Acquisition Act and fulfillment of various demands, taluk units of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene staged a protest in Chamarajanagar, on Monday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The farmers, who gathered near the Taluk Office in the morning picketed the office. They raised slogans against Tamil Nadu government for opposing the Mekedatu project. The agitators demanded that Chamarajanagar taluk be announced as drought-hit and the farmers be provided with suitable compensation for the loss of crop.<br /><br />The other demands include, efficient doctors at the Taluk Hospital, distribution of seeds on time to farmers, disciplinary action against the gram panchayat authorities, etc.<br /><br />They demanded Rs 50 per litre for the milk supplied by farmers as the prices of fodder has increased; lakes should be filled with Kabini River water; a minimum of 12 hours power supply for irrigation pumpsets, survey of lands and identification of access roads to farms.<br /><br /></p>
