<p>Belagavi: A senior couple from Beedi village in Khanapur taluk, fearing digital arrest and threats by cyber frauds who were making calls said to be originating from Delhi, ended their lives on Thursday evening. It's the first such case in the district wherein victims have ended their lives fearing digital arrest.</p><p>The deceased were identified as Drogger Santan Nazareth (82) and his wife Flavia (79) residents of Christian Galli, Beedi in Khanapur.</p><p>Drogger was found in a pool of blood in the underground water tank and Flavia lying lifeless inside the house. The couple did not have children.</p><p>Drogger mentioned in the suicide note that one person identified as Sumit Birra called him from Delhi claiming to be an official from BSBL and warned of consequences as his cell phone was used for illegal advertisements. He later connected to another person Anil Yadav who spoke about the consequences. "We are ending our lives as we do not want to live at the mercy of someone," the note said.</p><p>He also mentioned the loans availed from friends and asked them to be paid after selling the deceased woman's gold bangles and earrings. The note also mentioned that their remains be donated to a medical institution for students to study.</p><p>Nandgad police have taken the cell phone, sickle, and suicide note in their custody.</p>
