<p>City Crime Branch attached to Mandya Sub Division has recovered jewellery worth Rs 17 lakh, by arresting a gang of four dacoits from Mysore.<br /><br /></p>.<p>At a press meet here on Tuesday, Bhushan Borse, Superintendent of Police gave the names of the accused as Harish Ningaiah, Vinay Shankar, Shashidhar Ramanna and Prakash Srinivas, all from Mysore. <br /><br />He said that the gang was wanted in chain snatching and dacoity cases in Mandya, Mysore and Chamarajanagar. He said, Harish Ningaiah, who was caught on suspicion, on interrogation spilled the beans helping to crack 17 cases. <br /><br />They were involved in 10 cases of chain snatching and theft in Mandya East and West Police station limits, three under Rural Station limits, two in Saraswathipuram, Mysore, one each in T Narasipur and Kollegal Station limits.<br /><br />He said, the team including DySP Shobha Rani, CPI Srinivas, PSIs Siddaraju, J S Niranjan and Lakshminarayana, ASI C K Puttaswamy, Narayana, Ninganna, T Lingaraju, Arkesh, Annegowda, Nataraju and others were involved in the operation. He announced a cash prize of Rs 25,000 to the team. He said, raids are being conducted to curb illegal sand mining in district. He requested public to inform police if they found any activities of illegal sand mining. <br /><br />Borse said, Rs 10 lakh has been released to convert Malavalli police station into a people-friendly one. <br /></p>
