<p>Shaikh received two medals for the highest marks overall in BDS, and one each for securing highest marks in periodontics, highest marks in medical subjects and highest marks in dental subjects. <br /><br />Roopashree bagged two gold medals for securing highest marks in final year MBBS, one gold medal each for securing the highest marks in MBBS course for a woman student, highest marks in all pre-clinical subjects of MBBS course and highest marks in final year MBBS subjects. <br /><br />Shruti D P from Government Dental College, Bangalore secured four gold medals, while Dr Smita Moodi (Al Ameen Medical College) and Dr K M Vibhuti Sharma (SDM College) bagged three gold medals each. <br /><br />The 13th convocation of RGUHS had 26,425 candidates being awarded degrees, which included 14 candidates who were awarded PhD degrees. Under the faculty of medicine, 4,684 candidates received their degrees, while 2,659 candidates from the faculty of dentistry received their degrees. </p>.<p>The faculty of Ayurveda had 2,927 candidates receiving their degree, while the faculty of homeopathy had 459 candidates receiving their degrees. <br /><br />HIV cell<br /><br />RGUHS Vice-Chancellor Dr S Ramananda Shetty, while delivering his report on the university, said it had established an HIV cell, which was the first of its kind in the country. <br /><br />“Under this programme, affiliated colleges have established HIV cells, which help in the prevention of HIV infection, treatment of the affected and education of HIV patients, under the guidance of the university. Shetty pointed out that the university had obtained certificate of accreditation from ISO.</p>
