<p>Sources in the University said that Prof Thippeswamy will be given one week time to explain why disciplinary action can not be taken against him.<br /><br />It may be recalled that two Junior Research Fellows (JRFs) at Mangalore University had quit their research projects, accusing Prof Thippeswamy in the biosciences department of sexual harassment. <br /><br />The research scholars — one from Delhi and the other from Mangalore — had sent their complaints to Governor and Chancellor H R Bhardwaj and Vice Chancellor Prof T C Shivashankar Murthy.<br /><br />BBM scam<br /><br />The Senate meet also resolved to appoint a legal expert to look into the manipulation taken place in BBM examinations in November 2008, in which a lecturer was involved. It may be recalled that the University authorities had randomly checked the BBM results of 10 colleges and detected cases of manipulation. University sources said that a special Senate meeting will be conveyed within 15 days in which a decision will be taken regarding the future course of action against the professor and lecturer.<br /></p>
