Karnataka High Court has vacated the ban imposed by Kodagu deputy commissioner on the transport of dry paddy straws.

Through an order issued on November 13, 2018, the former deputy commissioner of the district had banned the transport of dry paddy straws from Kodagu to Kerala. The farmers had opposed the decision of the district administration.

Madetira Anil Ayyappa, an agriculturist from Kakotuparambu had filed a writ application in the High Court, on behalf of farmers, agriculturists and dried paddy straw traders in Kodagu.

Ayyappa said that the memorandum submitted to the Kodagu district in-charge minister, requesting to facilitate the farmers, had not yielded any result. It had been inevitable for the farmers to approach the High Court. The court order will help the farmers to get the rightful price for dry paddy straws.

High Court Judge Alok Aradhya pronounced the verdict. Advocate Harish Ganapathy had presented the argument in the High Court on behalf of the plaintiffs.
