<p>Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday stayed the Lokayukta police investigation against a person allegedly involved in an extortion racket.</p>.<p>Justice SR Krishna Kumar passed this interim order in the petition filed by the accused in the case, Ningappa Savant.</p>.<p>Meanwhile, the petition filed by Chandrakala GK, Savant’s wife, challenging his arrest, is expected to come up for hearing on Wednesday.</p>.Will honour Supreme Court order, says Karnataka Deputy CM Shivakumar on screening of 'Thug Life'.<p>In her petition, Chandrakala alleged that though Savant was arrested on May 31, 2025, from Hosadurga in Chitradurga district, the arrest was shown only on June 2.</p>.<p>It was stated in the petition that while the CCTV footage from Hosadurga showed that Savant was picked up at 9.30 am on May 31, the Lokayukta police showed his arrest from Maruti Ground in Rajajinagar in Bengaluru on June 2.</p>.<p>The petition further contended that the Lokayukta police have not provided the mandatory grounds of arrest.</p>.<p>The Lokayukta FIR dated June 2 stated that Savant was involved in extortion by blackmailing government officials and leaking advance information about raids.</p>
