<p>The 10th edition of the ‘Spirit of Wipro’ Run 2015 saw over 68,000 participants across the globe. Out of this, 12,000 employees from Bengaluru participated in the event here. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Thousands of employees, their families, friends, customers, partners, analysts and suppliers ran together at different locations across the world.<br /><br />The theme of this year’s event was ‘Run with a purpose,’ focused on educating children with disability. Through this event, the IT giant raised funds to support this cause.<br /><br />Speaking about the initiative and the theme chosen, Anurag Behar, Chief Sustainability Officer, Wipro Limited, said, “The theme for the run highlights our long-term commitment to social and community causes. This year, many employees and their families have been involved in volunteering initiatives across the world.” <br /><br />The Run was held in 16 cities including Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. The event had an officially timed 21K run (half marathon) in Bengaluru and a 10K run in Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Kochi, Mysuru and Hyderabad.<br /><br />World Peace Marathon<br /><br />Over 500 students and 40 Indian Air Force personnel took part in the World Peace Marathon held to mark the ‘International Day of Peace’ in the City on Sunday. <br /><br />Mayor B N Manjunatha Reddy who flagged off the event at Cubbon Park said the programmes that promote peace and harmony should be organised often in the City. <br /><br />“Bengaluru is a peace-loving city. The ban on movement of vehicles in the Park has given rise to many activities. We shall plan for more such programmes,” he added. <br /><br />The event was jointly organised by Raja Housing in association with Asportz International Bengaluru. <br /><br /><br /></p>
