Karnataka leaves it to Centre to act against Baderiya

Last Updated 18 May 2017, 20:54 IST
Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa on Thursday said that it was left to the Centre whether to take action against Revenue department principal secretary (disaster management) Gangaram Baderiya or not.

“An officer gets suspended if he/she is arrested for more than 48 hours. Baderiya is an IAS officer. So the department of personnel and training of the Centre has to take action. We cannot do anything,” he told reporters, on being asked whether the government would take action against the officer or not.

Baderiya was arrested on Monday by the special investigation team probing the illegal mining case. The officer was arrested in connection with illegalities in allowing Jantakal Enterprises to lift iron ore.

Kagodu said the government would soon appoint another officer to the post of principal secretary (disaster management).

“The department was set to release the second instalment of input subsidy to farmers. But Baderiya went and sat in the jeep (got arrested),” he said.
