Randeep clarifies on his transfer as Mysuru DC

IAS officer D Randeep, who recently served as Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru and later Hassan, has clarified that his transfer from Mysuru is as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.

In response to 'Musical chair of Deputy Commissioners in Mysuru' (DH, Pg 2, dated May 03, 2018), he has said that his transfer order was issued on March 7 by the government and has no role of the Election Commission in it.

"The transfer was effected as per the guidelines in a circular of the Election Commission, issued on January 17. It says any DC, who has conducted a byelection in the district cannot conduct the Assembly election in the same district. As I had conducted the Nanjangud byelection, the government transferred me much prior to the of the code of conduct canme into effect on April 27.

"My career so far has been satisfactory. I started my career under the JD(S) government, worked closely with three BJP chief ministers while drafting the budget as deputy secretary in the Finance department. Besides, I have voluntarily applied for leave for a month, till May 24," he said.
